Didot is a family of fonts named after the legendary French type designer Didot's wife and children. The categorization is known as Didone, or trendy.

Firmin Didot's firm produced the Code civil des Français in 1804 and used Didot's style.

The majority of the most well-known Didot types were produced between 1784 and 1811. Firmin Didot (1764-1836), a Parisian artist, lowered the letters and faked them as kind. Pierre Didot (1760-1853), his brother, used the categories in printing. His 1818 adaptation of Voltaire's Los Angeles Henriade is considered his masterpiece.

John Baskerville's experiments with increasing stroke contrast and a compacted armature provided inspiration for the design. In comparison to analogous faces designed by Giambattista Bodoni in Italy, the Didot family's augmentation of a high contrast typeface with an enhanced strain is contemporary.
