News Gothic MT font
About this font.
News Gothic was developed by Morris Fuller Benton for American Type Founders in 1908. The original design is simply a light form of Franklin Gothic, with two condensed faces. After a period of decline due to the popularity of European sans serif types, such as Gill Sans and Futura, American gothic typefaces made a resurgence in the late 1940s.
More variations of News Gothic were created around this period, including News Gothic Bold, which Intertype launched in 1955. These fonts, like Franklin Gothic, are classics for newspaper headlines, advertising, and packaging.
