Minion Pro font

About this font.

Minion is a serif typeface designed by Adobe Devices and launched in 1990. It was created by Robert Slimbach and is inspired by late Renaissance-era variety. It is intended for system text and extensive examination. Minion's name comes from the normal naming convention for form sizes, in which minion refers to the typefaces Nonpareil and Brevier when utilizing the 7pt height style system.

Minion was designed for human body writing in a common typeface that was moderately condensed and had considerable apertures to improve readability, as the name indicates. The design, according to Slimbach, ‘acquired a simpler structure and ordinary proportions’.

Despite Slimbach's claims that this was done primarily for the sake of obtaining a high level of consistency in the measuring of letters relative to ascenders and descenders, the appearance is slightly condensed.

Minion is a huge family of typefaces that includes Greek, Armenian, and Cyrillic alphabets, as well as optical measures, condensed versions, and aesthetic alternates like swash caps.

It is one of the most common serif types used in manuals, as it is a standard font in numerous Adobe apps. The Features of Typographic Style, Robert Bringhurst's book on superb printing and website style, is undoubtedly one of the most notable usages of Minion.
